Joe Biden has already invalidated a number of executive orders placed during Trump’s tenure as president. The orders were meant to limit racial equality progress by restricting federal government employees’ diversity training.
Multiple Executive Orders Voided
The order, which applied to the military, federal contractors, and grant recipients, prohibited “divisive concepts” teaching, was expected to be rescinded by Biden as part of the initial measures repealing previous actions of Trump’s administration.
Right after the order was signed by Donald Trump, the State Department, the Environmental Protection Agency, and a few other federal agencies had to pause or cancel various events on racism and LGBTQ+ equality. Civil rights groups also challenged Trump’s order claiming that it amounted to exceed.
According to an administration’s fact sheet, Joe Biden invalidated the order as part of a larger executive order aimed at “beginning the work of embedding equity across federal policymaking and rooting out systemic racism and other barriers to opportunity from federal programs and institutions.”
