Chicago Violence This Weekend

Chicago continues to be one of the most dangerous places in America. Despite the very strict gun laws in effect, six people were killed in shootings across Chicago over the weekend. Since Friday evening, a total of 59 people were shot.

In one of the latest tragedies, two teenagers who had been previously reported missing were found shot to death in a field on the South Side of the city.

The two victims, who were just 16 and 17 year old, were found dead at about 11:57 p.m. in a field on East 131st Street between Eberhart and Rhodes avenues.

Another shooting this weekend that occured on Sunday night, saw five people shot after a softball game in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. This shooting happened just before 11 p.m. in the 7400-block of South Dante Avenue.

The victims were hanging around after their weekly game, when police claim that a black van pulled up and one of the passengers started shooting into the crowd. One of the victims is hospitalized in serious condition.

According to an August 14th Chicago Tribune report, 1,944 people have been shot in Chicago this year. While that is 469 fewer than this point in 2017, it is still FAR TOO MANY!
