A Desperate Bernie Sanders Proposes Marijuana Legalization Plan to Sway Voters

A long-time supporter of decriminalizing marijuana nationwide, Bernie Sanders announced on Thursday a plan to legalize pot by executive order within his first 100 days in office.

“Too many lives were ruined due to the disastrous criminalization of marijuana” he wrote on Twitter, arguing that the criminalization of marijuana was responsible for ravaging communities of color and an unequal incarceration rate.

The only other major candidates who haven’t expressed their support for full legalization are former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, with Biden’s only point being that states should decide whether or not to legalize the drug, while Klobuchar has said she is for legalization, she has not fully relayed her stance on the matter.

Additionally, Sanders proposed that all past marijuana-related convictions should be expunged, with some of the revenue coming in from the legal marijuana business being funneled into communities who were hit hard by the War on Drugs as support.

Maybe Sanders hasn’t been keeping up with the recent news regarding the hundreds of deaths in the US involving products containing THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. The responsible thing to do would be to focus on thoroughly researching the health impact marijuana legalization could have on American Citizens.
