Apple has released a portal that allows its users to download their personal data from the company. The feature was first released in the European Union to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation(GDPR) ruling and has officially been made available in the US, Canada, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand. Apple’s new portal is an example other companies should follow given the scrutiny big tech is facing over user privacy concerns.
To download your personal information, visit Apple’s Data and Privacy portal and log in with your Apple ID. Click on the get started link in the “Get a copy of your data” section. From there you can select the what data you wish to download. The data you can obtain from the includes your sign in records, iCloud content, app usage, transactions, and marketing information .However, encrypted and provisional data is not included in the downloads.
