A police officer from Miami could be suspended for sharing his photo with a Trump 2020 cap when he was at a poll station. Mayor Francis Suarez told the press the cop would be sanctioned and eventually suspended.
Claims of “Voter Intimidation”
Suarez added that some people are claiming “it was voter intimidation,” and that officers’ responsibility is to protect residents without “making political stances while they are wearing a uniform.”
The local reports claim the officer’s name is Daniel Ubedahe, however, the Miami Police Department refused to reveal his identity and stated that "This behavior is unacceptable, a violation of departmental policy, and is being addressed immediately."
According to Mayor Suarez, the policeman was at the poll location to cast a ballot, though he could not confirm if Ubeda was on duty during that time.
On Tuesday, the chairman of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party Steve Simeonidis shared Ubeda’s photo on Twitter and wrote that “This is city-funded voter intimidation” and the officer “should be suspended immediately.”
