Granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy, Saoirse Kennedy Hill, Dies at Kennedy Residence

22-year-old Granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy, Saoirse Kennedy Hill, was declared dead at Cape Cod Hospital after emergency services were called to the Kennedy residence in Massachusetts on Thursday.

Saoirse was the daughter of Courtney Kennedy, the fifth child Robert Kennedy had with his wife, Ethel Kennedy.

The Kennedy family has faced a number of tragedies, including the assassinations of both Robert F Kennedy and John F Kennedy. Robert Kennedy was assassinated while running for president.

“Our hearts are shattered by the loss of our beloved Saoirse. Her life was filled with hope, promise, and love,” her family said in a statement. Her grandmother released another statement, saying that the world was a “little less beautiful” without Saoirse in it.

Saoirse Kennedy Hill was the only daughter of Courtney Kennedy and Paul Michael Hill. Hill was one of four people who were wrongly convicted of an IRA bombing in 1974; a group known collectively as the Guildford Four.

There have been no further details released about the death of Ms. Kennedy, but media in the United States are reporting she died of an apparent overdose.

Saoirse was studying communications at Boston College and suffered from depression, according to the New York Times. She wrote about her depression in a student newspaper in 2016, saying that; “My depression took root at the beginning of my middle school years and will be with me for the rest of my life.”

Police said that they had been called to the residence on a report of an “unattended death” and that they would launch a full investigation into what happened that night.

The Kennedy compound served as the Summer White House for President John F Kennedy during the 1960s before his assassination in Dallas in 1963.

This past July marked 20 years since the death of President John F Kennedy’s son, John F. Kennedy Jr. He was flying a light aircraft to a wedding at Hyannis Port, but crash-landed in the sea and died en route.
