House Democrats Propose New Version of the Heroes Act

The Dems revealed a $2.2 trillion COVID relief package

On Monday, House Democrats revealed a $2.2 trillion coronavirus relief package aimed to "avert catastrophe for schools, small businesses, restaurants, performance spaces, airline workers and others."

The relief package is a new version of the Heroes Act, which lawmakers passed in May. According to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the update will provide the necessary resources "to protect lives, livelihoods, and the life of our democracy over the coming months."

"It has been more than four months since House Democrats sent the GOP Senate $3.4 trillion in desperately needed coronavirus relief grounded in science and data, and Leader (Mitch) McConnell hit the pause button," Nancy Pelosi stated.

The House Speaker also added that during the negotiations with the White House the Democrats offered to come down a trillion dollars if Republicans would come up a trillion dollars, while the White House offered to come down $200 billion more.

According to Pelosi, the bill should address the health and economic needs of working families in the US.

Reportedly, after Democrats unveiled the upgraded plan, the House Speaker and the U.S. Treasury of Secretary Steven Mnuchin agreed to speak again on Wednesday.

Nancy Pelosi and House Democratic leaders are expected to hold a vote as early as Thursday.
