The U.S. Attorney's Office in Delaware announced they are conducting a federal tax investigation against Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden.
In a statement issued by the President-elect team, Hunter Biden said that he takes this matter “very seriously”, although he is confident that “a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors."
Controversy Continues to Follow Hunter
On the next day, the statement released by Biden’s transition team stated that Joe Biden is “deeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks of recent months, only to emerge stronger."
According to two individuals who reported on the investigation, the inspection has initially started in 2018, just ahead of Attorney General William Barr’s appointment at the White House.
Later on, Donald Trump and Republicans have repeatedly confronted Hunter Biden and his father regarding potential conflicts of interest with a Ukrainian energy company’s board when Joe Biden was a vice president.
The President-elect rejected Donald Trump’s accusations and the U.S. Attorney's Office refused to comment on the issue.
