Pop Star Plays Tone-deaf Coronavirus April Fools Joke on Fans

As the Body Count Grows from the Coronavirus, This Kind of Joke is in Poor Taste.

K-pop star Kim Jaejoong issued an apology after posting an April Fool’s joke about contracting COVID-19.

The now-deleted post featured the singer saying he was infected with the coronavirus after “ignoring” government warnings and “living carelessly.” Fans were disappointed and angry about the joke, criticizing Kim for using the current situation for a prank.

The artist, most popular for being a part of pop groups JYJ and TVXQ, offered a sincere apology for his post, saying that he was scared of potential second and third waves of the virus, adding that all he wanted to do was raise awareness.

“I just wanted to tell the people who don’t care about the virus: ‘Please listen up, people. Don’t get sick’,” part of his post reads.
