President Trump and first lady Melania Trump walked down the North Portico steps following Robert Trump’s casket, standing at attention as the casket was placed inside a waiting hearse. Friends and family stood nearby on the steps, with the president and first lady returning to the residence after the hearse drove away.
An Appropriate Departure
Businessman Robert Trump died Saturday after being hospitalized in New York. He was visited by the president the night before he passed away. President Trump said in a White House statement that Robert was not just his brother, but also his best friend, previously saying that a small service at the White House would be both “a great honor to him,” as well as “appropriate.”
