Remains of Poker Pro Susie Zhao Found in Michigan Park

Zhao frequently traveled between Los Angeles and Las Vegas before moving to Michigan

Professional poker player Susie Zhao’s remains were discovered in a Michigan park, in what police describe as a “mysterious death.”

Charred Remains, No Motive

White Lake Township Police released a statement on July 20th, giving some details on Zhao’s death – describing that her body was “badly burned” when discovered, with no clear motive for her death. Police speculated that her death may be connected to her gambling in other states, as Zhao, who is believed to have died on July 12th, arrived in Michigan from Los Angeles a few days prior.

Zhao frequently traveled between Los Angeles and Las Vegas before moving to Michigan in order to live with her parents and “confront challenges in her personal life,” WXYZ-TV was told by some of the poker player’s friends.

The investigation now includes the FBI, as speculation mounts that the death could be a murder because of Zhao’s profession – perhaps a “retaliatory incident,” Detective Chris Hild of White Lake Township Police told WIFR.
