Just a couple of weeks before election day, President Donald Trump demanded a public investigation of Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
A New Investigation?
To back up his claims against the Bidens, the president referred to suspicious emails accusing his opponent’s son of introducing a Ukrainian businessman to his father when Joe Biden was the vice president. According to a letter by 50 former senior intel officials, the emails had “all the classic earmarks” of a Russian disinformation operation. Nevertheless, Trump’s director of national intelligence John Ratcliffe rejected that claim.
Another letter from eleven GOP lawmakers to William Bar stated that if the reports about Joe Biden and his son are true,” the former vice president fell far short of his responsibility to uphold his constitutional oath and betrayed the sacred trust of the American people”.
A close source to the President claimed “Barr’s not going to do anything this close to an election,” while Biden campaign spokesman stated that “Joe Biden carried out official U.S. policy toward Ukraine and engaged in no wrongdoing.”
The Justice Department has not commented on the issue so far.
